Nassau BOCES Perkins Consortium: April 2012
WORK-BASED LEARNING (WBL)
DISTRICT NEEDS ASSESSMENT
AND/OR
SETTING UP A PROGRAM FOR 2012-13

It was an intent of this year’s Perkins grant to provide assistance for WBL activities for students (internships, co-op, and industry placements).  Unfortunately, it never got off the ground.

This being said, there is a very talented Business teacher who has the WBL certification available to begin consulting with your district this May and June if you can make use of her time.

The goal for May and June would be to conduct a needs assessment of your high school’s abilities now to provide WBL experiences, the programs to which they are attached, and to identify needs for next year in this area to improve upon your current system using the 2012-13 Perkins grant.

If you would like to participate in this activity*, and time is of the essence, please contact:

Gene Silverman at Nassau BOCES, gsilverm@mail.nasboces.org

(Please be prepared to mention the point person at the high school to work with the Perkins consultant and move the needs assessment forward.)
